UPDATE: Official: Schlumberger sends new claim to antitrust on EDC

(Adds details in paragraph 3)

MOSCOW, Feb 8 (PRIME) -- U.S. Schlumberger has submitted a new request to acquire a stake in Russia’s Eurasia Drilling Company (EDC) to the Federal Antimonopoly Service, Head of the Service Igor Artemyev told reporters on Thursday.

“They sent a new petition, it arrived two days ago. My colleagues are looking into it now,” Artemyev said.

Deputy Director of the authority Andrei Tsyganov said that the new request takes into notice earlier remarks of the service on some conditions of the deal and that the service will soon decide on sending the document to the state commission for foreign investments control for consideration.

EDC said in July 2017 that its shareholders approved selling a 51% stake in the company to U.S. oilfield servicing giant Schlumberger. In November, the antimonopoly service’s Deputy Director Andrei Tsyganov told PRIME that the service and Schlumberger were working on a mechanism to protect the company’s investment into EDC and of economic interests of Russia in case of new Western sanctions.
